1956 Nanaimo Timbermen appreciate tribute
On behalf of the family and friends of the players and executive of the Mann Cup winning team, we would like to express our big thank you to all who were involved in the game last Saturday.
It was great to be welcomed onto the floor by the present members of the intermediate, junior and senior A Timbermen teams. A special thanks to Western Forest Products for sponsoring the retro jerseys they looked great. Thanks to Jim Robson and Jim Kipp for their introductions and interviews reminding all of the celebrations that filled the city in September 1956 when the team arrived home. Through some fancy negotiations they were able to get the Mann Cup and all present were able to have pictures taken with it.
It was a great evening and brought back lots of fond memories of our victory 60 years ago. We know that Bob Allan and Clem Linford would have been impressed if they had been able to be here.
Once again a big thank you to all who made this happen. You gave three elderly gentlemen the opportunity to relive a significant event from their youth.
